Local M.P.s Show Support

Local M.P.s Show Support

Black Country Ales Ltd was very pleased to welcome Chris Kelly, M.P. for Dudley South  to its brewery and tap house in Lower Gornal this week. All in the company have been active in supporting the CAMRA campaign to have the beer duty escalator reduced in order to save pubs, jobs, and our customers’ hard earned money, and we  have had contact with several Black Country  politicians lately. Encouragingly, all of them clearly recognise the vital role which pubs play in communities. James Morris, M.P. for Halesowen, and Mark Garnier, M.P. for Wyre Forest, applaud the job creation opportunities provided by pubs which are being brought back into community use and feels the government’s introduction of “right to buy” legislation will allow communities to save more pubs. Ian Austin, M.P. for Dudley North has pledged his support for CAMRA’s calls to protect local pubs and breweries, and has contacted the chancellor regularly about the beer escalator. He told us “Pubs sustain communities and strengthen social networks, providing local jobs and services, supporting local businesses and offering community facilities. I believe that Britain’s beer and pub sector is an engine for future economic growth.” Ian has promised to keep us abreast of his current discussions with the treasury.
