Black Country Ales is a micro-brewery in Lower Gornal which aims to produce the finest real ales, using only the best ingredients, for sale in the company’s small collection of characterful local pubs located across the midlands.
There has been a brewery at The Old Bull’s Head in Lower Gornal for over 100 years but for 75 years after World War 1 the brewery was moth-balled. In 2003 Black Country Ales brought traditional craft brewing back to Lower Gornal to serve the growing number of old-fashioned pubs that it was acquiring in the area. The company hopes to add a small number of additional pubs to the collection over the coming years to allow local folk and visitors to the Black Country to enjoy the unique beers that have only ever been produced in Lower Gornal. Our pubs also showcase a large variety of the other beers produced by micro-brewers from all around the country.
Our small team of dedicated ale enthusiasts work tirelessly to promote the enjoyment of real ale within the traditional social setting of the local public house. Many of our houses have been reclaimed for community use after long closures, offering not just social amenity but also enhanced employment opportunities. We are proud of our work and invite you to explore our website to whet your appetite for ale.
