About Our pub
The Nursery Tavern stands in the Chapelfields area of Coventry, a neighbourhood shaped by Victorian terraced housing and long associated with traditional public houses.
First licensed in 1852, the pub takes its name from local nurseryman Thomas Weare, whose gardens once stood nearby. The name reflects the area’s earlier landscape before the development of the surrounding streets.
Today the Nursery Tavern operates as a traditional Black Country Ales house, serving well-kept real ale in comfortable surroundings. The pub provides a welcoming meeting place for local residents and visitors alike, continuing a long tradition of community pubs in Chapelfields.
